Cat Clark: Vert

This week we have a submission from Los Angeles, Cat Clark’s newest single Vert. She describes herself as a producer. ghost writer and solo artist. Through all of her work in various Los Angeles studios she landed a collab with RicFade of Bad Romantic Records. The single dropped last month and is a trap inspired record.

Thoughts on the Track

The song definitely sounds like something already on the radio. I can see the trap inspiration. From the artwork its not the style I was expecting. She focuses the song on talking about drip, fashion, cars and having a tight squad. It is a catchy and upbeat song that you can zoom though traffic in. You can find the song on all streaming platforms by following this link https://lnkfi.re/zN2c6hPj and follow Cat Clark for more music by heading over to her instagram @catclarkmsic.

{New Video} JuztKP – School Supplies

This is a beautiful video with a beautiful message. It’s in black and white and JuztKP is in his signature look. My favorite aspect of the video is the side-by-side scene where KP is holding up signs of encouragement. They may be meant for a certain someone but we can all relate to and gain encouragement from his written messages. The cinematography is great for this video and really helps bring life into the song. Some may find it simple but sometimes a simple setting can evoke a powerful meaning.

I keep talking about meanings and messages and I bet you’re wondering what in the world I’m talking about. For that let’s talk about the song because that’s why we’re really here isn’t it. He talks about life struggles. What kind of example are we setting for our kids and future generations? Instead of doing something and being part of the revolution everyone is too busy talking and complaining. Why aren’t we promoting college cred instead of street cred? This song comes during a time when the entire country is in turmoil. This is another positive song to make you reflect on your own contribution to the world. But why don’t you guys let me know what you think his message is??

JuztKP – Bull City Maniac (Music Video) ft. Dynasty Official

Where to begin with this video?? Well let me just say… what a breath of fresh air that was. The imagery is incredible!! I love all the shots and setting. The video was so clear and very well done. The change of focus in some shots and the angles spoke to me. This is just me being a video nerd but after going to school and studying video I think I’m allowed to nerd out once in awhile.

Now back to the video. The concept behind this video is like going back to 90s hip-hop with a modern twist. The same goes for the song. He takes it back to break dancers in the street and choreographed dances. After watching this video I am def a fan and I feel like I need to visit Bull City to hang out with KP and his crew. If you listen closely to the song you will catch some very slick and well-executed references to that 90s hip-hop I was talking about. Can you spot the references, if so what are they?

Bio (provided by KP)- JuztKP is more than jut your average rapper. A magician with words. Processed with VSCOcam with b5 presetGraduate of NC A&T State University with a degree in Public Relations. Modern activist and entrepreneur.

{New Music} Jep Roadie – Superheroes

SuperHeroes

Bio (provided by artist)- “Speaking as the “lone wolf” that they always refer to, I can tell you what comes of seclusion. Plenty of self awareness and the yearning to save. Not in the way most “rappers” use the term nowadays. But in the traditional sense. Actually saving someone’s life. Of course, it is just an extension of our overall humanity and willingness to put others before ourselves. Nonetheless, I did not choose to save. I do not like to save. I simply need to save. It cannot be controlled. By day, I can’t really stand most human interaction. I find most to be self absorbed and simply lost. Most are lost because of the devices used to distract the world. But by night, I am the one howling at the moon in hopes it will reply. I don’t do this for recognition. I do not do this for monetary gain. It would be much easier to rob a bank than to become a superstar. I pretty much do this for a family member, I am yet to meet. I do it so that a lost soul may be revived by one of these recordings. The lone wolf always seems to be lonely. But maybe inside his heart, lives the voices of all. This is no sermon. I am not preaching. This is no attempt at being something I am not. I am writing this in hopes that someone will relate. That someone will understand what I am saying or how I feel. Until then, I will continue to write these songs. Everyone is a Super Hero in someone’s eyes. Ideas like that make life worth living. I love you. Sincerely, A 90’s baby, who was given PTSD.”

What a beautiful introduction to a new artist visiting Mellsville. Let me start off the review by saying I got goose bumps at the beginning of the song because of the soulful voice I heard. The way the beat began I thought I was in about to listen to some ignorant rap but I was pleasantly surprised. Now at the end of the first verse when he goes back to singing I find it to be a little rough but then it gets better. There are definitely some lines where he tries sending a message. He also puts in a lot of personal issues into this song. Looking forward to hearing more and watching Jep Roadie grow as an artist.
