Making our way to L.A, this week we have GIN. She is a Los Angeles based artist who has been growing her popularity overseas by touring in South Africa. Earlier this year she released her self-titled debut album “GIN” The song and video are meant to show L.A. from her eyes and was directed by Underground Threat. So let’s check it out and see what L.A. is all about.
Thoughts on Welcome to LA
GIN has a smooth voice and a lovely song and video concept. While I understand the message, the delivery could use some confidence. It seems she is too concerned with getting the lyrics out to focus on working with the beat. It is a short song that talks about her experience in the city. The beat is smooth and can mesh with her voice.
She is on the right track, just needs to hone in on the delivery a little bit. She does great on delivering the chorus however. She gives us positive vibes while taking us through LA. The video shows her in different locations in the city and on a rooftop. It also features prominent LA landmarks and graffiti art.
