This week we do things a little differently by traveling to a super top secret location to sit down with Double Ontendre. We start off with a quote that he uses often which touches base on how everything is created twice, first in the mind and then in real life. We’re all one out here. Double has many of the same influences as Melly especially J. Cole. Other major influences of his include Tech Nine, Black Hippie, Chris Brown and Mac Miller. Another major influence for Double Ontendre is Bruce Lee.

Double is always ready to perform and has found a way to perform over 300 shows over his career. Some of these opportunities come in random and unexpected ways. His father was also a bboy back in the day. His father was part of the docuseries ‘A Prisoner’s Path which also features three of his songs. You can find the documentary for free on Tubi. Yes, we watched it and it is an incredible show and movement. There is an interesting story behind the meaning of Double Ontendre’s name some stemming from Dr. Dre, his name and 10×10.

We get into many of his over 300 shows including those at The Forge, WC Social Club, Denver, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and Artist Harvest which his label ‘On Ten Ent’ helped co-host. As a musician, you have to take every opportunity and Double travels whereever he has to go for his career including Atlanta for Moss Fest. He has also opened up for greats like Token, The Original Wailers, Meyday, Cottonmouth Kings, Bizzy Bone, KRS-One, Sir Micheal Rocks and Bone Thugz and Harmony. He also performed out in Costa Rica while he was out there backpacking.

Double Ontendre has a good relationship with Emerald Acres where he sometimes throws events. He also works closely with Roast 808 who he has done promo for. They then get deep into his musical journey starting back in 2017. This starts a conversation about the Butterfly Effect. We also delve into all of his music videos and the concepts behind them. He also talks about the ‘Cross Country’ project which was a joint project with various artists nationwide. He also has two projects with Masta Lee, ‘Super Soul Bros 1’ and ‘Super Soul Bros 2’.

The ‘Daydreamer’ album is next up and it has 17 tracks. When talking about ‘Double Vision’ they discuss his website and marketing. If there is one thing you can take away from watching him perform or being in the same room as Double Ontendre it is his marketing. Even more commendable is he does everything himself. ‘Liquid Love’ is about love and primarily about a previous relationship. It was mainly inspired by one particular relationship. They also touch base on his home studio.

During the random round we talk about Double’s instagram being hacked, the Super Saiyan Rick pin, Day with Dre Vol 1 and so much more. We also talk about how in tune Double is with earth and nature. Finally we talk about ‘Behind the Bars’ where Double almost didn’t make it home and there are some guest appearance by some well known names like Kung Pao, Ashtroboi and Yung Tact.

To end the interview we discuss his latest tracks and his upcoming project. He leaves the Couch with a custom freestyle. The ‘Roll Call’ video is dropping soon so stay on the lookout. You can find Double Ontendre by using the following links:
