In studio this week we have an artist and mental health advocate: Neeky Darko. We start by delving into the many alter egos and personalities that live in his mental mansion. We touch base on the new music and being in toxic relationships. Neeky is looking to tell new stories on his new album. Crash out Carl will also make an album. Neeky tells us the story about learning to play the piano. When speaking about the song ‘Just Like You’ they talk about losing their mother’s. Neeky’s was a false alarm thankfully. This then takes us into a story about suicide and mental health.
The next song they talk about ‘Split’ discusses drug addiction and mental illness. This is another heavy topic that the duo delves into. The episode is not for the faint of heart and you should proceed with caution. Ironically, the first two songs discussed are Neeky’s least favorite as far as song writing but his best when it comes to emotions. When discussing Steve-o as a crucial influence they also discuss ‘Iwouldhaveslappeddarkeforthatbeattoo’. Next is ‘What Would Mac Do?’ which is an upcoming tribute album.
They break down more music such as ‘Demon Dick’ and ‘Dr. Death’. Leading us to a controversial topic: paying for open mics. Eventually, they move on to other songs after several tangents during the first half of the interview. While discussing ‘Dangerous’, they talk about the significance of his tattoos. One of the tattoos leads to a conversation about religion in Cuba. They briefly talk about the innocence of Kanye West. After going through all of Neeky’s music, we delve into his performances. As always there is a miscellaneous segment of some other cool things Neeky Darko has done.
Neeky Darko also delves into being a mental health advocate and what that means to him. Stay tuned for his new project and continue to follow his journey using these links:
