This week we have The Lot’s personal pick for the season. Per usual we go to the beginning which was high school for Indica India. This is where she got her name and was a poet. She has been a poet her entire life. Her spoken word and poetry opened up opportunities such as presenting an award to Jen Walters. She started performing a cappella at first before using beats. We continue to discuss performances and get some tips on how to perform more songs on shorter set times.
We take a moment to discuss the challenges of being a woman in hip hop. This is always an important topic to discuss. This leads into discussing being a versatile artist. We also discuss the talent that can be found in Chicago. Then we head back to talking about performances. Immortal Technic is a major influence on Indica India and we connect on that front.
We eventually start breaking down music starting with “My Diabolical Dialogue.” We discuss other singles and features throughout Indica’s career. We also break down her second project “Lover Girl on Demon Time.” Indica India also discusses her first paid feature. India was also on television recently.
