Kelli Baker

Kelli Baker’s new single “Silk Flowers” is a striking introduction to her upcoming EP Granite which is releasing through Gulf Coast Records. Her voice is impressive here. It is smoky, expressive, and full of emotion. There’s a real honesty in her delivery and it is clear that every note is lived-in rather than performed.

Lyrically, the song is sharp and relatable; you will hook to it straight away. Using the metaphor of silk flowers, Baker explores the tension that comes between appearances and reality in relationships. the lyrics like “Don’t give me your roses when I’ve got a garden green” cut deep and they capture that mix of longing and frustration with subtle elegance.

The production leans on moody blues. But, there is also hints of rock, giving the track depth without overpowering her vocals. There’s a natural push-and-pull in the arrangement too that mirrors the song’s emotional themes, moving between intimate moments and more dramatic peaks.

“Silk Flowers” is a compelling debut single and it is not one to miss.
