TheLights, ‘Outside’

TheLights

London experimental duo THELIGHTS just released “RUSH,” and its a hit! The synths are massive here, building these huge soundscapes that swallow you up. There’s atmosphere layered throughout. It is the kind that keeps you engaged even when you’re not actively trying to be. The vocals are echoey and haunting, sitting in their own world while everything else moves around them. Also, the hypnotic rhythms keep pushing forward, creating urgency that doesn’t quit. The song digs into emotional extremes, those highs and lows that hit hard when you’re actually living through them.

THELIGHTS is SLND (Solenoid) on lyrics and vocals, with DEETZSCHK handling backing tracks and visuals. They’re pulling from influences like Chaka Demus and Pliers, which honestly wasn’t what I expected, but it brings this interesting energy to their experimental sound. They take what works from others but twist it into something I haven’t really heard elsewhere.

What struck me about “RUSH” is how committed it is to being bold. The soundscapes don’t hold back, the rhythms grab you, and the electronic elements hit without feeling excessive. If you’re into music that actually takes risks, this is worth checking out. THELIGHTS are doing something different in the experimental space right now.
