Vinyl Floor have just released “The Swan of Eileen Lake” and it’s a real ear worm!

Thomas Charlie Pedersen reckons he set out to write about overwhelming beauty, that gut punch moment when something just floors you. Fair enough. But the song had different ideas. What you actually get is a proper examination of joy, anxiety and jealousy all wrapped up in the story of some young woman who’s about to tear through life with all guns blazing and inevitably wreck someone emotionally along the way.

Musically, they’ve gone for piano and stacked harmonies, keeping the rhythm section tight with drums and bass that actually know when to shut up and let the rest breathe. Sara Andreasen’s on vocal duties too, which adds depth without making it all cluttered.

They tracked it at Studio Möllan in Malmö with Emil Isaksson and Daniel Pedersen behind the desk. Søren Vestergaard sorted the mix and master at the Shelter. The production’s got that Swedish clarity to it and everything is in its right place without sounding overthought.
