Currently a college senior majoring in government and minoring in Theater, Nomi was inspired by the shutdown to write her debut EP for 2022. She isn’t scared to have difficult conversations or speak on them in her music.

Her inspirations include legends like Aaliyah, Marvin Gaye and Lauryn Hill. Her father, Elliott Ness from E.S.P., is the one who influenced her musical taste.

Nomi’s team states, “Kooky Arrogant Racist Entitled Narcissist (or K.A.R.E.N.)” is a soulful sardonic explosion, driven by a pleading Hip Hop sample which creatively takes all damsels in guileful distress to task.”

This song is a testament to the world we live in. Karens calling the cops for no reason, wasting resources due to racism. Her delivery is sensual at first to catch your attention and then Nomi pretends to be a K.A.R.E.N. calling the cops on a man for breathing. She addresses how quickly white tears can be weaponized against people of color, as has been the case historically.

Nomi has a spectacular voice that captures her audience. She builds on that by delivering thought-provoking lyrics. You can tell she uses her education in Theater when delivering her lines. There are some interesting choices that you could miss if you aren’t paying attention. She definitely calls out K.A.R.E.N.s.
