On the Season Four finale, we have a very special guest and someone you have seen me work together with several times: Yung Tact. He’s one of the busiest men in Chicago but he made his way to the Couch for a deep-dive interview. We start with his first show ever in Michigan. This is also when he learned his biggest lesson in the industry regarding significant others.

Next, we delve into his rap career, but first, we discuss beat-making. We briefly touch base on Yung Tact streaming on Twitch. Combining his love for gaming and rapping he started off in a group named ‘Simcity Mizfitz’. We have a moment where we age ourselves by reminiscing on Limewire and Bear Share days. There is a lot of music to go through but first we breakdown the significance of his name.

Next up is the deep dive into 20 years of music, including Climate Change, St Tactics Day, Live 95, 100 Cones and many other albums. We also discuss music videos like ‘The Dance’. His song Klondike also made it to Shade45 Radio. Tact talks about the good and bad that comes with paying to play and how important it is to be a good person. Another major piece of advice Tact gives us is about the importance of meeting cool people and watering those relationships.

Somehow, we get into talking about the impending GTA 6 release. We eventually segue into his role as an event curator and the beginnings of White Girl Wasted. He tells us little tidbits about working with The Treated Crew and Sir Mike being a rap inspiration. Yung Tact has also been in some controversy in the Chicago space and he airs it out on the Couch. We also talk about Midnite Club and everything involved in the process to achieve Tact’s dream event. While on the topic was also discuss the current state of the scene in Chicago and how money hungry some individuals are.

Tact tells us the move to Illinois is permanent and tells us about the struggles of being a turtle dad. We then segue into talking about the Chicago rap ecosystem and the challenges that come with it. We also discuss the transition from White Girl Wasted to Flush the Work and doing shows. Tact also has a history in sports broadcasting and has worked for Baller TV and Live Nation before.

Next up we discuss everyone’s favorite topic: weed. While consulting for Live Nation, Yung Tact was also entrusted with finding Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar some weed. This was Kendrick’s first time in Detroit before he was a big name. Tact has taken a step back over the summer to take time to focus on himself especially after doing his biggest show.

Coming up Tact might have a tour in the works. We end the interview chit-chatting about random topics and Tact leaves us with a verse. You can keep up with Yung Tact below:
