Join Melly Starz and Naithemosthigh as they sit down for a four hour interview. It was so long we just had to split it into two parts. This week we focus on Nai’s background and her many side quests. We start by addressing the barely seen and somewhat hidden Most High archives. Next we talk about how her family influenced her creative journey starting with her grandfather having a studio. While speaking on family we delve into a deep topic about mental health especially in the Black community.

Getting back to the music, we discuss ‘the pull’ that is needed for Naithemosthigh to create and drop music. We throw it back and discuss her participation in Coast to Coast Live where she got second place and Direct2Exec. Next we break down some of Nai’s MANY performances including ones at popular venues in Chicago like Bourbon on Division, Innjoy, Reggies and various open mics. While speaking on these performances we also break down some of the songs Nai has performed.

As many creatives she was in a musical funk and didn’t create for quite some time. She also faced many different medical challenges which held her back for a moment. Eventually, she started creating again. Nai discusses how she got through that time and how important building relationships is.

We also get into Most High Presents: The Culture Cypher which introduced a slew of artists in the collective. Cyphers are a major aspect of hip hop and if you’re a rapper then you’ve been in a cypher. She lets us know that a part two is coming with brand new artists. This might become an annual thing so stay tuned. Another aspect of Most High Presents is philanthropy which is where “The Village” comes into play.

Another side quest for Most High is Bars at the Bar which is a completely freestyled podcast hosted at The Moxy by Naithemosthigh. It strictly based off vibes and you cannot apply to get on. You can catch up on episodes on Most High Presents Youtube and Spotify.

To end the episode we begin to talk about her extensive catalog of music starting with ‘Smile’. Next we talk about the ‘Preseason’ series of music. We go over a couple of other songs before deciding to cut for a refresher. Tune in next week for part two where we continue to break down her music and touch base on some other heavy topics.
