Dropping this week Tommy Boy Australian Hip Hop artist Vic August drops “Approach” from his forthcoming EP titled “xx”.
The Melly Starz team was able to snag an exclusive listen to this smooth melodic song prior to the official drop. Vic August is joined on the track by Socialblight and UNKWN. The track is so melodic that it can blur the lines between Hip Hop and R&B which is right on trend with the times. The track is on the longer side at over 5 minutes but some of the best songs break the mold, which is the case here. The song is about a girl and his relationship with her. They have a back and forth relationship, she seems to have put a spell on him to keep him stressing her. By the end of the song, it seems our protagonist has given up on his love and would prefer if she keeps off social media with this drama and just back off already. The solo guitar riff at the end sent chills up my spine and was a perfect way to end the song.
Overall, I love the song! the delivery is spot on, lyrics are on point and the beat is unmatched. The collaborations and lyrical references are infused perfectly into the track. With this being Vic August’s first single, I can only imagine what is to come on his forthcoming EP in November. This is a great introductory song for new fans looking for the ever-elusive Hip Hop and R&B fusion. You can stream the song by clicking this link.
Who is Vic August?
With a #1 Hip Hop project (“Truths”) already under his belt, Australian teenage sensation Vic August is now poised to make his Tommy Boy debut with, “Approach”, featuring Socialblight and UKNWN. The first single off of his forthcoming EP, “xx”, due out 11/8/19 (Pre-order available 9/13/19) sees Vic August bringing smooth melodic flows over a slick guitar-driven, Trap-infused beat, blurring the lines between Hip Hop & R&B in a way that only he can. With his signature sauce and undeniable swag, it makes perfect sense that he has already picked up co-signs from Ebro on Beats 1 and Spotify – landing on the cover of their ‘Mellow Styles’ playlist in Australia. With “Approach” being the first taste of what is to come from his new 7-track project, the lead single is more than enough to get old and new fans excited about what’s on the way.
