Heading over to Brooklyn we have recording artist and producer Osaze Akerejah. “Topless Tesla” is said to have an ‘atmospheric hip-hop sound’ and comes off the “Time Bomb Season” album.

Akerejah explains: “Visually, I really wanted to capture the slip into impulsivity and hedonism that the song grapples with via some edgy, stylized, 1990’s “Natural Born Killers”-esque imagery, but I wanted it to have a subtle comedic and subversive twist that could drive home the self awareness present within the record and the full album as a whole.”

Background on Akerejah and Butterfly Haus

Akerejeh is a Nigerian-American producer, songwriter and recording artist born in new Jersey. Akerejah has been making music since the early 2000s. The idea for Butterfly Haus came about in in 2019 but did not come to fruition until 2022. The previous name for Butterfly Haus was SAZE. Now, let’s get into the song and video accompaniment.

Thoughts on Topless Tesla

The video is hilarious, it looks like everyone had fun making it. I love the mini skits to break up the video with “behind the scenes” footage. The song is perfect to ride around town blasting it out of your speakers. The main star is the Tesla, which was rented. It has some nostalgic vibes when they are driving around the city. The delivery from both artists is unique and era bending. They keep each line short, making it easy to follow along.
